Themes: resistance; resilience

The poster for the twentieth anniversary of Chicano Park Day, created by Mario Torero, combines several powerful symbols for the Logan community. Imagery includes the Mexican Flag, Virgen de Guadalupe, and Che Guevara. The poster also incudes several references to revolutionary spirit and community. This ensemble is centered on an imitation design of the 20th Century Fox logo, one of the most broadly recognized logos in American film and television, which connects the Chicano essence to American culture. 

The 20th anniversary  of Chicano Park celebrated the musical career of Los Alacranes, whose lead singer Chunky Sanchez was active in establishing the park. This Union Tribune article explores the cultural roots of Los Alacranes' music.
