Good Day. Hello everyone, My name is Lillian Huyana Hall. I am a young Miwok Woman from the Ione Band of Miwok Indians Tribe, located in Ione, California. I am currently residing in Bellingham, Washington to pursue higher education at Northwest Indian College. I am in my second year, my major is Tribal Government and Business Management while concentrating in Early Childhood Education.Since starting at Northwest Indian College I have been working with others to revive the college gardens. In addition, from the ages of 15-18, I traveled around North America working with various native organizations such as the Intertribal Agricultural Council to learn with and inspire youth and communities to reconnect with their traditional food ways, while always remembering to give back and never take more than what is needed. I am looking forward to being the Keynote speaker at this event. Tangi kmau.

I'm Solange Ingabire. I'm a Congolese, born and raised in Rwanda, who is currently residing in Costa Rica, and pursuing my education at EARTH University. I'm in my second year of undergrad, my major is Agricultural Sciences.

Bethany Conway is an MRes student at Newcastle University studying Agricultural Sustainability and Food Security. Bethany has previously worked as a research assistant in ornithology and ecology for both the RSPB and GWCT. This research focused on the impacts of British agricultural systems on bird populations and breeding success. For her MRes research, Bethany plans to determine the efficiency of mob grazing and rotational grazing in a dairy system using milk production, animal behaviour and animal welfare parameters.

Currently a lecturer at TUA, John graduated from University of California, Davis with a double-degree in International Agricultural Development and Art History, before earning his M.F.A. at the Global Art Practice program at TUA. He researches multifaceted relationships between people and land where the current university campus was built.

Koken is currently enrolled in the Intermedia Art M.F.A. program at the Tokyo University of the Arts (TUA). He likes to shoot POV (point-of-view) video artworks. Koken, through the Yagi-no-me (Goat’s Eyes) program, observes goats from a variety of perspectives including architecture, husbandry, and community design.

William Makaza is a final year Masters student of Fertilizer Science and Technology at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, Morocco. He is a Zimbabwean, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture (Crop Science) from the University of Zimbabwe. William is currently working with the African Integrated Plant and Soil Research Group (AiPlaS), focusing more on the exploring some natural materials in mitigating major abiotic stresses (salinity, drought and acidity) on lentils. His work is coupled with the screening of lentils genotypes for drought stress tolerance. William enjoys farming, music and volleyball in his daily life activities. 

Safi Uwase is a master's student at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University's school of agriculture, fertilization, and environmental science, specializing in Fertilizer Science and Technology. She is a Rwandan by nationality. Currently, Safi is working on her final year internship at the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC), where she is exploring the nutritional quality of zinc in maize. She believes that agriculture is a field of unlimited possibilities.

Blessing Olabosoye is a master’s candidate in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security at Newcastle University, United Kingdom. Blessing's research focuses on understanding the role of latent Zymoseptoria tritici to pathogenicity in wheat using qPCR. Also, he is an associate member of the Royal Society of Biology and member of the Genetics Society of America. Before this time, Blessing obtained his bachelor's degree with First-Class honours in Animal Production and Health at the Federal University of Technology Akure, Nigeria. As a prospective PhD researcher, he aims to engage high-throughput genomics technologies to address complex biological problems.

Mohammad Edress Deliri is an MSc. Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security student at Newcastle University, in the UK. His research focuses on health, welfare, structural growth, and weight gain of dairy and beef calves. Edress has worked as a lecturer at ACES, and a researcher with WHH in Afghansitan. He has done his bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from Kabul University, has achieved Allama Mohammad Iqbal scholarship award from Pakistan, and Mr. Gees scholarship award from Newcastle University. He is currently studying the effects of trace minerals, vitamins, crude protein, crude ash, and essential oils on the structural growth and live weight gain of dairy and beef calves at Newcastle University.

Andressa Gonçalves Vidigal recently completed her Ph.D. in Music at the University of California, Davis. She is Brazilian and grew up in the city of Maringá, Paraná. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Music from Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM). Her studies were funded by the Brazilian agency CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel); from which she received the esteemed Doutorado Pleno (Full Doctoral) Scholarship. Andressa focuses her research on women and music. In her free time, Andressa enjoys gardening with her son, Coen, as well as reading engaging in discussions on sustainability, social equality, and women’s rights.

Hello! I am Jiana Choi, a Lead Student Farmer in a food justice, food security program called Fresh Focus at the UC Davis Student Farm. I am an international student from South Korea, majoring in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems. I’m interested in food equity and rural community development! 

Adriana Galarza is a Master of Science student in Environmental Policy & Management, specializing in sustainable agriculture and food systems. Her focuses are on food equity and the intersection between sustainable agriculture and food justice. Adriana is currently an intern with Fresh Focus at the UC Davis Student Farm and will be transitioning to the External Partner Coordinator role in the fall. She is also a Graduate Student Researcher at the Environment, Land and Food Systems Lab where she focuses on evaluating existing policies surrounding food/agriculture in California and mapping the state's food system. 

Jayro J. Chévez-Sahona is a current 25-years-old graduate student in the International Rural Development program at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral, also known as ESPOL in Ecuador. As part of the MS program, he is part of the Rural Studies Research Center (CIR by its initials in Spanish) as a Graduate Research Assistant working on projects related to the COVID-19 impacts on food security among different Ecuadorian urban and rural communities. In 2020, Jayro earned a bachelor’s degree (BS) in Environment and Development Engineering from the Zamorano Pan-American Agricultural School in Honduras. Thanks to the “Learning-by-doing” courses taken in college, Chévez-Sahona was allowed to learn strategies to promote development through sustainable agricultural systems and environmental care policies.

My name is Luis Eduardo Castro, I was born and raised in El Salvador, the smallest country in Central America. Throughout my life, I have had the opportunity to live and experience different cultures and points of view, mostly while I studied at United World College (UWC) in Costa Rica. This has had a huge impact on my compromise to enhance the relationship between humans and our environment. Today, I am pursuing a major in Agriculture Engineer, focusing on creating sustainable ways to live with our home: Nature.

My name is Mariana Cordero, I'm 20 years old and I was born and raised in a small farming village in the mountains of Costa Rica. My father and both of my grandparents have dedicated all their life to low-scale farming, which exposed me from a very early age to learn and work beside them. I'm currently a first-year student at EARTH University majoring in Agricultural Sciences and learning all I can about agriculture so I can go back to my little town and put into practice what I've learned, but also contribute to the sustainable development of my town, my country, and the world.

I consider myself before everything an "apprentice between worlds" and a daughter of the land. But in academic terms, I have a degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Federal University of Paraná and I'm a master's student in Geography in the same institution. In addition, I am a technician-militant of the "Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra" - MST (Landless Rural Workers Movement) in the state of Paraná (Brazil) working on the construction of a Popular and Agroecological Agrarian Reform Project. I believe in sowing and planting "one world" of many worlds, which are plural and respect the diversity of life and Nature that we are a part of.
