Circulation Services
Library circulation includes checking out library materials to library users, renewing borrowed item, reserving checked out items for the patron, checking in returned materials. Library users (faculty and students) are eligible to borrow materials from the library. They can borrow a book for library use, photocopy, classroom use and overnight.
Scan and Deliver Services
This is a service that UB LRC offers to users, to obtain copies of a particular article and/or book chapter needed for their research, assignments and reports which are available in print copy at the Learning resource Center’s collections. Scan copy of the material (A single article, a thesis abstract, a chapter from a book) are sent to clienteles via their email provided in the “ask a librarian” form.
Internet Services
The library has an internet room equipped with multiple computers that are available for client’s use. Each student is given an hour of use per session. The librarians also provide assistance with using the internet / computer for research or other academic related projects.
Reference Services
The librarian answers questions of users and provide clientele the needed materials. The task ranges from finding the answers particular questions, or even performing extensive searches to maintaining a good reference collection, and assisting clients to find information themselves.
Referral Services
Library staffs issue referral letters to bona fide students, faculty and employees who wish to conduct research in other libraries and other research agencies. The UB Learning resource center is a proud member of NOCEI (Network of CALABARZON Educational Institution) and MAHLAP (Medical and Health Librarians of the Philippines) which gave UB researchers the opportunity to visit and utilize the library of other members, free of charge.
Promotional Services
It is important that the library promotes its services to all its potential clients, so that it is well used and its value appreciated. It involves the following activities:
a. Monthly Exhibit
The UB LRC displays books are according to a monthly theme prepared by library staffs.
b. Current Awareness Service (CAS)
It is a service that provides up-to-date information on a specific topic or field. It is designed to keep individuals, researchers, and professionals informed of the latest developments, trends, and news in their areas of interest. The library bulletin contains news about details of new services, list of new acquisitions and other items likely of interest to library costumers.
c. Library Orientation/ Instruction
UBLRC conducts orientation on the proper use of the library facilities, different library services and library resources at the beginning of the school year to all students and faculty. The library policies are given and explained.
Technical Services
Technical Services are the behind-the-scenes activities that a library undertakes to process library materials before they are loaned to clientele. These activities include ordering, classifying and cataloging, preparing materials for the library shelves, inventory, and weeding. Other technical services include the activities related to acquiring donated materials, repairing and preservation of library materials.
Miscellaneous Services
This services provides limited school materials that you can use inside the library. Like pair of scissors, puncher, extension cords, adapter, and others.
Wi-Fi Access
UB LRC offers unlimited, fast, and free access to Wi-Fi connection for all UB students, faculty, employee, alumni and visiting researchers. This is a great help for students and faculty members who have online classes. The network is unencrypted and no password is required.
