December 2021 witnessed one of the strongest typhoons to hit the south-eastern seaboard of the country, and UA&P prepared to do its best to be of help to our fellow countrymen in that part of the Philippines.
Background
As UA&P-BIGGKAS+ endeavored to provide assistance to the victims of Typhoon Odette, the team came across this humble school on the island of Siargao, Surigao del Norte, Philippines. Upon further investigation, it was a school facing the Pacific Ocean directly and was one of the worst hit communities during the onslaught of Typhoon Odette. The TWG decided to implement a fund-raiser that would address the immediate needs of the school - rehabilitation of the damaged infrastructure. Through the fund-raiser, the University was able to raise Php50,000.00 that was donated to the school last April 8, 2022.
Impact
The donation from the fundraiser will become part of the rehabilitation funds for the school, specifically the destroyed handwashing facilities with the return of the pupils to face-to-face classes.
