Lockout Assistance
Q: What do I do if I am locked outside my room without my keys?
The first point of contact is the front desk (at Lister Residence) or East Campus Residence office at International House (I-House). The front desk staff will provide you with a temporary access card which should be returned afterwards.
If you are locked out after office hours (that is, if the office is closed), contact the resident assistant on shift. Be prepared to provide your student ID number or onecard.
** Find information about your resident assistants here.Â
** Keys and Access cards are only provided for free at the first lock out. You will be charged $50 after your first lock out incidence.
Note: Resident Assistants (RAs) are available for 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM.
If you are locked out outside of the Resistant Assistant (RAs) hours, contact the University of Alberta Protective Services (UAPS) - 780 492 5050. However, UAPS should only be contacted outside the office hours and RA hours, as being locked out is not considered an emergency.
Submitting a Maintenance Request
If there is a maintenance issue in your unit that needs fixing, you can submit a maintenance request online through the Residence Maintenance Portal (instructions are listed below). Examples of maintenance issues include broken light fixtures, windows that will not open/close properly, broken light switches, etc.
For emergency maintenance repairs which pose a risk to residents' health or safety, please contact the Residence Services Office or the Resident Assistants (RAs) on shift.
Go to the Residence Maintenance Portal.
Sign in with your CCID and password. This will take you to a page titled "Maintenance Request List".
Click on "Add New".
Fill out the form, making sure you provide a detailed description of the issue that needs to be fixed and the correct room/unit number. We recommend clicking the box that says "Notify by email?" to receive updates to your UAlberta email address regarding the request.
Click "Save".
You can view the status of your request anytime by logging into the Residence Maintenance Portal and clicking on "Maintenance Request".
