At the end of your two year training, you will have the foundational knowledge and skills to launch your career as a Pediatric Infectious Diseases consultant. It is expected residents will have become familiar with the common presentations, investigations and management of pediatric infections. They will also know how to assess and investigate patients with less common presentations, and will know how to efficiently retrieve and utilize data concerning all pediatric infectious diseases.
The 2-year Pediatric Infectious Diseases Program consists of 13 blocks of 4-week rotations per year which includes 4 weeks of vacation each year. There are 5 blocks elective allocated in the 1st & 2nd year of the program.
Pediatric Infectious Diseases 8 blocks, Junior Attending 2 blocks, Adult Infectious Diseases 2 blocks, Medical Microbiology 3 blocks, Infection Prevention & Control 1.5 blocks, Antimicrobial Stewardship 1.5 blocks, Public Health & Prevention Medicine 1 block, Vacation 2 blocks. There will also be a longitudinal clinic (continuity clinic) incorporated into the training.
Any rotation approved by the Program Director (must relate directly to Infectious Diseases and fulfill the objectives of the training program). Examples include TB clinics, STD clinic, or research.
