The External Learner portion of this site contains information to familiarize yourself with as you prepare for your rotation or elective with the Peds ID program.
Your email will contain the contact information of the physician/resident on service to discuss where to meet on the first day of your rotation.
This contains all the information you need to know for your time on Peds ID. Please navigate the tabs at the bottom of the document below to find your required block.
The mandatory UTI Quiz is to be completed during your rotation or elective.
An important item that you need to read and complete is this 2-page quiz titled “Diagnosis and Management of Urinary Tract Infections in Children”. Complete and email your answers to Dr. Robinson (jr3@ualberta.ca) by the last Friday of your ID rotation. She will email you back comments and the “correct” answers (recognizing that some are controversial).
Please complete the pre-rotation questionnaire for your assigned block by the specified deadline. Be sure to include any dates you will be unavailable for the rotation (such as Continuity Clinic, post-call days, exams, OSCEs, days off, etc.). This information is essential for scheduling clinics and rounds. Thank you!

You can expect to receive an email for each day you're on rotation with us, containing a daily Peds ID question. This is a great learning tool for you to assess your knowledge. These will not be used for evaluation, just for practice! Your answer and email will be captured, but for "quality assurance" purposes only. Scores will not be tallied.
Please bring your home school ID badges. Temporary ones can be made by Alberta Health Services on your arrival for your elective for a fee of $15.
Netcare and Connect Care access can be granted for electives that require it. Access is granted on an as-needed basis and as-requested basis. This access must be requested 6 weeks prior to the elective start date. Any requests after this time will not be accommodated. Please speak to your preceptor to confirm whether or not access is necessary. If necessary, please act on this as soon as possible to ensure that it is set up in time for your arrival.
