Leave Entitlements
FLEX DAYS 4 days/yr (not part of vacation)
22.01 In recognition of Resident Physicians who are scheduled and take call the day before a Named Holiday resulting in working a portion of the Named Holiday, all Resident Physicians shall be entitled to four (4) flex days off each Appointment Year without loss of pay. These flex days are not part of the vacation entitlement (see Article 20).
EXAM LEAVE 5 days/exam (includes travel)
a) Travel required – the day prior to outbound travel, the day of outbound travel, one (1) or two (2) days as required to attend the actual examination, and one (1) day for return travel, or
b) No travel required – the day prior to the examination, one (1) or two (2) days as required to attend the actual examination.
STUDY LEAVE 5 days/exam --
up to five (5) non-consecutive days off during the eight (8) weeks preceding the Exam Leave described in Article 13.01
VACATION 20 days
Residents are asked to submit their leave plan for the term no later than July 15. The leave requested may be modified with eight weeks prior notice.
OTHER LEAVE AS OUTLINED IN PARA AGREEMENT
Leave Request
Residents requesting a day(s) off their assigned rotation for any given reason (stat/personal day, conference leave, etc), MUST meet the following criteria:
● Maximum number of working days that can be missed on a 2 week rotation is 3 days, on a 4 week rotation is 5 days
● Application must be received 8 weeks in advance
● Multiple consecutive Flex Days requested together can be refused; Flex Days during December & June can be refused
● Stat day-in-lieu must be in the same rotation as the stat day worked
● Maximum of 5 conference days (must attach relevant documentation)
