Support the voices of the Métis in Alberta in their ancestral languages, so that their stories and knowledge resonate in the communities as well as in the schools.
Support teachers in the integration of Indigenous knowledge and perspectives, particularly teachers in Francophone schools and French immersion programs.
By developing pedagogical resources in collaboration with Métis Elders living in Alberta, this website is intended to respond to Call to Action #63 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. This entails developing and implementing K to 12 curriculum and learning resources related to Indigenous peoples. It also entails sharing information and best practices.
These Michif resources, created in collaboration with the Elders and Lac Ste. Anne Métis Community Association, contribute to the documentation of different variations in linguistic practices considered as endangered. These resources will serve as learning supports for the revitalization of French Michif and Cree Michif (from Lac Ste. Anne) (Calls to Action 13 and 14 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada)
These resources are intended to contribute to the protection of the right to use and teach Indigenous languages in connection with Call to Action #10 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
Call to Action #63 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission highlights the need for teacher training, to which this website can contribute by providing pedagogical resources such as videos, teaching plans, student handouts, etc.
