Longitudinal Themes in the MD Program help medical students acquire essential CanMEDS roles such as health advocate, scholar, leader, professional, and communicator, alongside the medical expert role, emphasizing social accountability throughout their four years of medical education. This allows students to apply medical knowledge in early clinical experiences, learn from patient mentors, become health advocates through service learning, and reflect on their experiences in physician discussion groups, fostering the development of complex skills and physician identity.
