Exploring Hope in the Face of Crisis is a participatory action research initiative focused on how young people experience and sustain hope while navigating the climate crisis. The program investigates the relationship between hope, mental health, and future planning, with the goal of understanding how youth mobilize their work—both individually and collectively—to foster social and ecological transformation.
The project aims to generate practical resources for educators, youth, and community partners. These resources will address barriers to decent work, promote climate justice, and explore pathways for meaningful careers that contribute to equity and sustainability.
This research-driven initiative brings together educators, youth, and community organizations to co-construct knowledge and resources. Grounded in participatory action research, the project centers youth voices to better understand how they sustain hope and envision meaningful futures amidst ecological and economic uncertainty.
The project uses a collaborative approach to explore the intersections of climate justice, mental health, and career development. By challenging traditional models of career planning, it fosters a transformative framework that supports young people in aligning their work with social justice, equity, and sustainability.
