Egor completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Immunology at McGill University in 2003. He then completed a PhD degree in Biochemical virology at McGill University in 2019 followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at University of Otago, New Zealand. He joined the Götte lab in March 2015 and is now the Research Associate. His focus is on the development of new assays for biological functions of viral proteins as well as on the day-to-day supervision of graduate students in the lab.
Emma completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at The Kings University in 2005. She then completed a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Alberta in 2011. She joined the Götte lab in September 2019 and is now the lab manager. Her focus is on the day-to-day operations of the lab. In addition, she is the sole source of protein production for multiple projects using the baculovirus expression system (BVES) and research support for the lab and collaborators (Canadian and international) by performing all Containment Level 3 and HPLC work.
Dana earned her graduate degrees in Molecular Biology (MSc, Comenius University), Microbiology (PhD, Comenius University) and Genetics (PhD, Paris Descartes University) between 2001 and 2006. She has been a research assistant in the Götte lab since March 2020. Her research goal is to biochemically characterize RNA-dependent-RNA polymerase complexes from coronaviruses and alphaviruses.
Robert graduated from Grant MacEwan University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in computer science. He joined the Götte Lab in 2023 and has been performing a wide variety of computing related tasks for the lab ever since. These include phylogenetic analysis, web design, data management, writing office extensions and helping to coordinate the development of new computing projects.
Femi earned a Bachelor of Technology in Biochemistry from the Federal University of Technology Akure, Nigeria (2015), a Master’s in Animal Biosciences from the University of Edinburgh, UK (2019), and a Ph.D. in Immunology and Infectious Diseases from Cornell University, USA (2025). He is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Götte Lab (2025–present), where he focuses on isolating and analyzing antibodies against influenza viruses and developing novel assays to characterize their functional breadth.
Adrien completed his Master of Science degree in Microbiology and Biotechnology from the Toulouse University (France) in 2019. He then obtained his PhD in Structural Biochemistry from the Aix-Marseille University (France) in 2024. He joined the Götte lab in 2025 as a Postdoctoral fellow. His project focus on the study of Influenza replication complex and it’s adaptation to host factors as well as antiviral resistance.
Hery completed her Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta in Immunology & Infection in 2020. In the same year, she joined the Götte lab as a graduate student pursuing her PhD in Virology. Her project focuses on the biochemical characterization of resistance developed by SARS-CoV-2 against nucleotide analogues.
Arlo completed their Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biological Sciences at MacEwan University in the spring of 2021. They joined the Götte lab in January 2022 as a MSc student and work with segmented negative sense RNA viral RNA polymerases. Their project focuses on determining structures for hantavirus polymerases, elucidating cap-snatching mechanisms, and discovering new antiviral drugs that target the process of cap-snatching.
Simon completed his Bachelor of Science (Honours), specializing in Biochemistry, at Queen’s University in April 2022. He joined the Götte lab in September 2022, where he is currently pursuing a Master’s of Science degree in Virology within the faculty of MMI. His research focuses on the biochemical understanding of antiviral compounds against RNA viruses possessing high epidemic potential. At the moment, he primarily evaluates nucleotide analogues against RNA polymerase activity of viruses from the Flaviviridae family.
Bryson completed his Bachelor of Science (Specialization) in Biochemistry from the University of Alberta in April 2025. He joined the Götte lab in September 2025, where he is currently completing a Master of Science degree in Virology within the MMI department. His research is centered on the inhibition of the influenza protein neuraminidase, with the aim of advancing vaccine design. Currently, his work involves optimizing established biochemical assays to assess novel neuraminidase inhibitors in vitro.
Nisha completed her PhD (Microbiology) degree in 2022 from Saurashtra University, India. She joined Gotte lab in January 2025. She handles recombinant expressions and purification of proteins using bacterial as well as insect systems.
