WHAT IS A FELLOW?

A fellow is defined is a post-MD trainee, registered with the Postgraduate Medical Education Office (PGME) and is pursuing supervised clinical and/or clinical research training. Fellowships are an opportunity to gain specialized expertise, not normally acquired during residency training.

Fellowship training does not fulfill certification eligibility requirements of existing residency programs recognized by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
