November 20, 2018: Chelsea Benally - The First Indigenous woman to graduate with PhD in engineering from Dr. Gamal El-Din and Research Group. Chelsea Benally, who did the research of how to successfully treat oil sands tailings pond water under Dr. Gamal's supervision become the first Indigenous woman to graduate with a Ph.D. from the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Engineering. October 03, 2018: FES Second Annual Open House, Lister Hall, University of Alberta. Future Energy Systems host its second annual Open House event. Research posters from more than 70 projects across 14 themes, involving more than 100 researchers and more than 300 graduate students from 8 University of Alberta faculties and campuses were presented. Dr. Gamal El-Din's team presented four posters on land water reclamation approaches.
