Last year, the AWE coven explained how uncool ghosting (failing to show up to something you previously committed to) can be and how to prevent it from happening. But what if you have already ghosted somebody? Can you still conjure up a great relationship after missing an important meeting?
Stay calm. If the Horseman can lose his head sometimes, so can you. Take a breath, accept that you missed the appointment and collect yourself.
Communicate. Don’t let this misstep haunt your dreams! Contact the person as soon as possible to acknowledge missing the appointment.
Apologize. Show the person you’re not a zombie by expressing your regret…but don’t overdo it! Simply apologize for missing the appointment in a sincere manner.
Reschedule. Reiterate that you still want to discuss your blood-curdling midterm, the bones of your resume or the best pumpkin carving strategies! Arrange a new time that works for both of you.
Reflect. Unlike a vampire, you can see yourself in the mirror. Think about what went wrong, and adjust your approach for next time. That could mean adding future appointments to your calendar, setting phone alarms or asking your best ghoul-friends to keep you on track.
The truth is that ghosting happens sometimes - even on Halloween, we’re only human. But with a magic wand and the right spell, you can turn an uncomfortable situation into a great learning opportunity!
