Transferring colleges is pretty common. Whether you're transferring from a 4-year college to another 4-year college or transferring from a 2-year college to a 4-year college. Use the resources below to make your transfer process smooth.
Transfer Checklist
Academics
Apply to the college you want to transfer to
Get accepted to that college
Send your official transcripts to your new college
Talk with an academic advisor or look up online what credits will transfer to your new college
Housing
Complete the housing process for your new college
Move out all of your things from the dorm at your old college
Complete the move-out process with your RA at your old college
Financial
Apply for transfer scholarships at your new college
Make a correction on your FAFSA for the current school year and add your new college (if transferring mid-year)
Complete the FAFSA for the next school year with your new college listed (if transferring next school year)
Talk with the financial aid office at your new college about any financial aid that will be applied to your account (grants & loans)
Let your scholarship providers know that you are transferring colleges so they send your scholarship to the right place (ex: Ellis Foundation)
General
Update your address on any website or app that has your old dorm address listed (ex: Amazon, Doordash, Uber, etc.)
