Getting Involved
College is not just about getting your degree. Getting involved in activities outside of the classroom is a great way to have a well-rounded and fun college experience. You're paying to be on your college campus, you might as well enjoy all the things that come with it! Use the tips below to learn how to get more involved and make connections.
Types of involvement
If you're struggling with knowing what to get involved in on your campus, here are a few different things to try:
Academic honor societies
Fraternities/Sororities
Intramural sports or club sports
Become a campus tour guide
Join an academic program (ex: TRIO)
Clubs for your major or minor
Clubs for your cultural identity (or a culture you want to learn about)
Clubs for your major and cultural identity (ex: society of black engineers)
Clubs for fun interests (anime, chess, baking, Harry Potter, etc.)
Clubs for a cause (animal rights, human rights, LGBTQ+, homelessness)
Participate in a campus contest or competition (ex: scholarship beauty pageant)
Study abroad
Participate in performing arts (theater, music, band, dance, etc.)
Get an on-campus job
Volunteer on campus or at a local organization
Join the campus ministry
