In 1949, Mao Zedong declared victory over Chiang Kai-shek's Nationalist forces and announced the establishment of the People's Republic of China. This was one of many events in 20th century China that resulted from anti-imperialist attitudes which were held by millions of Chinese citizens at the time.
In this project, ninth grade Global Studies/World Cultures students will examine the impact of imperialism on Chinese history and culture.
