Journal / Learning Log

Your learning log and Journal are notes about what you accomplish in our Video Broadcast.

Your writing about what you take away from the experience, new skills, what you find interesting, what is difficult. It is your writing about the process, and why the news is... the news.

You will be asked to reflect on your work throughout the course, and put it on a Google Site.

Prompts for Self Evaluation writings on their blogs.

  • In a week's production, discuss your role in the production.
  • What did you do to help accomplish the goals of the program?
  • What was new to you in your role?
  • What new skills did you have to learn to do your work?
  • Show links, pictures, video, audio clips to help illustrate your learning.
  • How did you contribute to your team? Were you a leader? A follower? Did you argue?

Prompts for Peer Evaluation.

Peer evaluation would come in a few different formats. These could be a class critique / discussion of a video product to suggest improvements for the next product. Written notes for feedback following viewing of the video.

  • What could be improved with the camera usage? (i.e. angle, stability, focus, framing, etc) Why?
  • What could be improved with the sound? (i.e Microphone use, positioning, environment too noisy, etc.)
  • How could your team work better together?

Connection to the World and Community

  • Does the video meet the needs of the Audience? Why or why not?
  • Does the Mainstream media meet the role of their audience? Why or why not? Give specific examples.
  • What is happening in the news today that might connect to your work?
  • What is the role of the Media in society?
