What do we learn in AVID?
The AVID College and Career Readiness Framework focuses on three main ideas: Rigorous Academic Preparedness, Student Agency, and Opportunity Knowledge.
Rigorous Academic Preparedness:

AVID students learn skills and strategies that increase academic success, now and for the future, such as WICOR strategies (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading). The image below shows just some of the things AVID students will learn throughout the schoolyear.
Student Agency:
Student Agency:
AVID students will learn how to build a supportive community. They will work together in groups, help each other solve problems, and practice being leaders in their school and community. Teachers, counselors, and families all work as a team to help students stay on track and feel confident.
Opportunity Knowledge:
Opportunity Knowledge:
AVID helps students learn about college and careers early on. They explore their interests, visit colleges, talk to guest speakers, and see what’s possible for their future. They also set goals and make plans so they’re ready for high school and beyond.
