Letter from our faculty and staff:
Dear Senior,
Entering your last year of high school can be an exciting and crucial time as you prepare for the next chapter of your life. Here are some pieces of advice to help you make the most of your senior year:
Stay focused and motivated: Keep your academic goals in mind and stay dedicated to your studies. Senior year courses can be demanding, so manage your time effectively and seek help when needed.
Set goals and make a plan: Take some time to reflect on your aspirations and set clear goals for your post-high school plans. Whether you're considering college, vocational training, or entering the workforce, create a plan and outline the necessary steps to achieve your goals.
Research your options: Explore various career paths, colleges, universities, and vocational programs. Attend college fairs, visit campuses, and gather information to make informed decisions about your future.
Maintain a balanced schedule: While academics are important, don't forget to take care of your overall well-being. Engage in extracurricular activities, hobbies, and socialize with friends. Find a healthy balance between schoolwork and other aspects of your life.
Seek guidance and support: Utilize the resources available to you, such as your Student Success Advisor, counselor, and teachers, and mentors. They can provide valuable advice, help with college applications, and assist you in exploring scholarship opportunities.
Prepare for standardized tests: If you plan to apply to college, prepare for standardized tests like the SAT or ACT. Study well in advance, consider taking practice tests, and identify areas where you may need additional support.
Stay organized and meet deadlines: Keep track of important dates, deadlines for college applications, scholarship submissions, and financial aid forms. Create a calendar or use a planner to stay organized and ensure you don't miss any critical deadlines.
Build relationships and network: Strengthen relationships with teachers, mentors, and peers. Seek opportunities to connect with professionals in fields of interest through internships, job shadowing, or informational interviews. Networking can open doors and provide valuable insights.
Take care of yourself: Don't neglect self-care during this busy time. Get enough sleep, eat nutritious meals, exercise regularly, and manage stress effectively. Take breaks and engage in activities that help you relax and rejuvenate.
Enjoy the journey: Senior year marks the end of an important chapter in your life, so make the most of it. Celebrate your achievements, create lasting memories with friends, and embrace the new experiences that await you.
Remember, everyone's journey is unique, so trust yourself, be open to new opportunities, and have confidence in your abilities. Best of luck with your senior year and your future endeavors!
