HAMAMATSU FESTIVALIt is a vibrant celebration in Hamamatsu, Japan to celebrate the birth of the first born child through kite flying. The festival is held annually from May 3 to 5.Students created their own kites and wrote their wishes in relation to Hamamatsu Festival tradition.
HOLI FESTIVALIt is a major Hindu festival celebrated as the Festival of Colors, Love and Spring. Holi is celebrated during spring across India. Since Holi is also known as Festival of Colors, students created a fingerprint art of something they love.
LABOR DAYMay 1st is a holiday in many countries also known as International Worker's Day to celebrate community worker's achievements and contributions. In this lesson, I also asked students to think of what do they want to be when they grow up and create an appreciation card for it.
In English Club class, students created an ebook of what they want to be when they grow up. They answered the following questions:
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Where do you want to work?
What will you do or become in the future?
MOTHER'S DAYMother's Day recognizes the role of mothers in the family. It is an annual holiday celebrated in the United States of America on the second Sunday in May. About 100 countries celebrates Mother's Day on the same day.In this lesson, students created greeting cards and letters of appreciation for their moms.

CHILDREN'S DAY In our activity for Children's Day, I asked the students to share what do they like about being a kid, what are they thankful for and what are their best memories on Children's Day. The students were able to reflect and share their Children's Day experiences throught this worksheet.
TRAVEL PLANNERAs part of our Travel the World lesson in English Club class, students created a travel planner for their visit on their favorite country. Students learned about their favorite country's foods and beautiful places to visit. They also experience to have a passport, boarding pass and learned about sentences to use at the airport. To complete their travel experience, they had a roleplay of going through the check in counter, immigration, security check and boarding.
PASSPORT JOURNALSStudents write a journal of what they have learned from the different countries we have visited in Internation Education class.
CHARACTER PROFILE POEMStudents write a poem to describe their favorite character in the story they have read. Guide questions and patterns are provided to help the students accomplish the task.
