Now Hiring for Lifeguard and Pool Management positions! The City of Sacramento aquatics team offers competitive wages and the opportunity to earn incentives of up to $600 each summer! Successful applicants will possess a current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or be enrolled in a Red Cross Lifeguard course, and pass a background check, physical examination, and drug test.

ELIGIBILITY
Youth between the ages of 14-18 who will commit to the program principles of academic achievement, community service, and self-discipline are encouraged to apply. Our recruitment plan is thorough and comprehensive, working directly with schools, as well as, community and faith-based organizations to identify program candidates. Youth who are particularly interested in exploring a career in the fire service are encouraged to apply.

Location
Northern California Regional Public Safety Training Authority at McClellan Air Force Base.

We meet on every Saturday from 8am to 2pm.
The academy starts end of July and ends April the following year
Training today's youth to be tomorrow's firefighters
The Sacramento Firefighter Youth Academy (SFYA) is a 9-month program aimed at youth in high school. The purpose of the SFYA is to expose the youth to a viable career within the fire service.
The Sacramento Fire Department is committed to reaching out to the youth of our community by providing them with a safe environment that builds confidence and promotes character building, personal growth, responsibility, and accountability through mentoring, training, and teamwork.
The youth academy will introduce our youth to the fire service and provide them with learning opportunities that challenge and inspire them to realize their potential and guide them toward being productive members of our community.
This is a cost-free program. All uniforms and equipment needed to participate will be provided.
Sacramento State Summer Youth Academies 9th-12th graders are led by campus faculty and industry experts in a variety of 22 disciplines including Computer Science, Engineering, Public Safety, Arts, Business, and more.
Students will:
Explore educational and career opportunities in various fields
Discover new academic and creative challenges in topics not always available in regular school
Work with other students on real-world projects
Get a preview of college
Learn from Sacramento State professors, community college faculty, area public and private school teachers and industry professionals

ADVANCED EDUCATION
Advanced Education is a program that allows current high school students to take classes at Los Rios Community College District. Advanced Education students may enroll in 11 units each semester (across the Los Rios district). Applications must be submitted to each individual college.
Eligibility
The student has started the 9th grade or will be at least 14 years old by the first day of instruction.
The course the student wants to take is not available at their high school (applies to the summer term only).
The student is prepared for advanced study as recommended by the high school principal or their designee.
The student has parental consent to be admitted and enroll at the college
