Advanced Conditioning
Grades: 9-12 Length/Credits: One Semester (0.5 credits)
This is not your typical PE class. This class is designed to push you to your physical fitness limit by introducing current fitness techniques such as: High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Tabata, Yoga, and much more. These exercises keep your heart rate up and burn more fat in less time. Benefits of these exercises include increased strength, stamina, and balance. If students have a positive mindset, a strong work ethic, are looking to prepare for the athletic season or just looking for a great workout, this is the class for them!
Introduction to Nutrition
Grades: 9-12 Length/Credits: One Semester (0.5 credits)
Basic understanding of the human diet and what leads to optimal wellness. We cover the major nutrients, supplements and superfoods. The goal is to find clean, natural, tasty foods that lead to you feeling and functioning your best at a sustainable level, no matter your lifestyle or body type. We emphasize the value of feeling good versus weighing a certain amount. We also connect how what we put into our body dictates how we physically, mentally and emotionally perform.
Nutrition In The Kitchen
Grades: 10-12 Length/Credits: One Semester (0.5 credits) Prerequisites: Intro to Nutrition
If you enjoyed our regular Nutrition class and want to apply that knowledge in the kitchen to create, share and eat food, this class is for you. We will utilize our school kitchen during 4th & 8th period next fall to collaborate and become competent with kitchen safety, sanitation, culinary creativity and confidence, cultural foods, while making nutritious and delicious food. This class is especially recommended for our student-athletes. Prerequisite is any current 9-10-11th grader who passed our regular Nutrition class.
Physical Education 9/10
Grades: 9-10 Length/Credits: One Semester (0.5 credits)
We continue to develop daily routines for stretching and getting our bodies and minds ready to work and play. Due to space and safety constraints, we stick to classic indoors games, such as soccer, ultimate football, floor hockey, basketball, kickball, speedball and forms of dodgeball. Students are expected to change into PE clothes every day. Students actively participate in circuit-training most Mondays in hopes to develop some life-long fitness skills. This is an elective class for our 9th and 10th graders to select for one semester. Select students may be able to have schedules that allow for a full year of PE.

Grades: 11-12 Length/Credits: One Semester (0.5 credits)

As upper-classmen, the students have more of a voice and more freedom in the gym environment.
Sexual Health and Drug Education
Grades: 10-12 Length/Credits: One Semester (0.5 credits)
Based on national health standards, medical information, and scientific research, this class offers tools to help young people make healthy decisions about sexual health and drugs. This comprehensive and inclusive class is hands-on, activity based, and gives students a variety of skills and information to navigate through life. This class is based on abstinence as the safest choice, but we do provide instruction on safer sex as well.
Social and Emotional Health
Grades: 9-12 Length/Credits: One Semester (0.5 credits)
There are many factors involved in living a healthy, fulfilling life. Social and Emotional Health is a course designed to empower students to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to make healthy and informed choices throughout their life. Students examine what it means to be emotionally and socially healthy. This course is based on the national health education standards. During this course, students explore a broad range of social and emotional health topics including: Self Awareness and Self -esteem, Basic Needs, Communication, Conflict Resolution, Community, Relationships & Personal safety, Death and dying, Depression, Stress, Values and Current Events.
Sports Psychology
Grades: 9-12 Length/Credits: One Semester (0.5 credits)
A key component to competitive and athletic success is envisioning both success and what might be an obstacle: we will learn how to do this to enhance each individual student-athlete. All High School student-athletes are encouraged to take Sports Psychology. This is a class that focuses on all that makes a balanced and successful student-athlete: an athlete's diet; the value of preparation, visualization, rest and confidence; what it means to be a teammate; understanding a coach's perspective; sport-specific training; exercise kinesiology (study of human body movement); and the value of recovery.
Yoga and Wellness
Grades: 9-12 Length/Credits: One Semester (0.5 credits)
Want to start your day with some calm tissue work and mobility work? Do you like moving and feeling good without getting too sweaty and intense? Are you looking for ways to become more flexible and with more toned muscles? Are you feeling tighter and less energetic, but want to feel better? This is your class. We will offer this 1st period to those that want to enhance their mobility and focus on calming their minds and breathing. This is not a standard PE class with competitive games. Think of it as a great period of time to get your mind, body and mood into a calm and prepared zone to maximize your day.
Advanced Sports Career
Grades: 10-12 Length/Credits: One Semester (0.5 credits)
Course description: The advanced sports career course is designed for students in grade 10-12 who have an interest in pursuing careers in the sports industry. This course provides a comprehensive overview of the diverse career opportunities in sports, including sports management coaching, marketing, athletic training, media, event planning and sports medicine. Students will explore the professional skills and knowledge required in the sports industry through articles, videos, projects.
By the end of the course, students will have an understanding of what it takes to succeed in various sports-related fields and will be prepared to pursue further education or internships in their area of interest.
