The NHSDA chapter began in the 2024 - 2025 school year! We are excited to be continuing with our second year here at VHS!
Dancers interested must be enrolled in a dance class at The Villages High School. This is an exciting opportunity for those focusing on dance in high school to earn additional recognition for their efforts!
Dancers are inducted upon earning 30 points their junior year. Once inducted, students must earn an additional 15 points in their senior year to be considered for "Graduation with Honors." For 2025-2026 we will have two induction ceremonies, one for the Class of 2026 seniors in the fall, and one for the Class of 2027 Juniors in the spring. For the induction ceremony, both inductees and members will be required to attend meetings (once per nine weeks).

Class of 2026 Induction Ceremony: December 2025
Class of 2027 Induction Ceremony: April 2026
Requirements:
3.0 overall unweighted GPA or higher
3.5 GPA or higher in Dance Courses
Positive Character Evaluation based on, but not limited to the following:
Maintain professionalism at all dance activities and model the expectations for younger dancers in our program.
Support the dance arts at our school and in our community.
Motivate others to do their best and work together in preparation for performances.
Induction will be based on the above and the earning of 30 points or more as defined by the NHSDA. Please see below for elements that qualify for points being awarded:
Dancers earn points towards induction by accomplishing the following:
Dance Classes at VHS
Master Classes/Workshops at VHS
Choreography Projects
Performances through the VHS Dance Program including but not limited to: Winter Dance Concert, Choreography Dance Concert, Spring Dance Concert
Additional Performances: Performance with Jon Lehrer's Dance Company, competitions, etc.
Participation in Golden Girls
Participation in other duties related to dance productions:
Stage Manager/Backstage Crew
Dance Captain/Rehearsal Direct
Photographer/Videographer
Playbill/Program Design
Scholarship/Written Essays pertaining to and/or reviewing Dance
Participation in outside dance activities may also be considered including:
Dance Classes/Conventions
Formal Adjudication/Judging
Intensives/Workshops
Dance Portfolio Requirements:
Create a folder in Google Drive that includes the following items. Please name your folder: First and Last Name, NHSDA Induction Year. (For example: Coach Warren, NHSDA 2025). This folder will be shared with the Chapter Advisor no later than April 1st of the induction year.
Headshot/Dance Picture
Bio that includes: your name, summary of your dance experience and training, and any significant accomplishments. This may be in a paragraph or resume format.
Organized videos of Choreography and/or Projects. One video for each element you are including on your Points Tracking Sheet. Please note: All performances completed for The Villages High School Dance Program and/or Golden Girls will be tracked via the Chapter Advisor. The videos that should be included are of choreography and/or projects completed in class or for any elements outside of the VHS Dance Program you are earning points for.
Picture/Scan of your completed and verified NHSDA Points Tracking Sheet
Graduation with Honors (senior NHSDA members):
Picture/Scan of your completed and verified NHSDA Points Tracking Sheet to show evidence of your additional points earned.
Essay as outlined in the "NHSDA Induction Point System."
