Visiting the schools your are interested in is a crucial step in the decision-making and application process. When visiting you not only get to see the campus and facilities in person, but you also have the opportunity to speak with current students and staff members directly about things that you are curious about.
We are able to make arrangements for tours and open school day events based on your travel availability. We are also happy to have a staff member accompany you for support if needed.
Generally we recommend visiting a number of schools when you are able to visit the UK for several days. To have a good impression of the area and campus, we suggest you visit in spring or fall rather than during the cold British winter. Below we have listed some general time indications that are suitable. Please let us know which schools you are interested in and approximately what dates you are available, so we can get in touch with the schools as soon as possible to confirm availability and make bookings for school tours.
Late September to mid-October
Late February to mid-March
Late April to mid-May
Mid-June to late-June
Greet the teachers, principal, tour guide or student(s) you will meet, and introduce yourself clearly.
Focus on the school facilities and campus layout.
Take note of things you like about the school in case your child be asked about them in an interview.
Ask your questions to the tour guide, staff members or student(s) you meet to show your curiosity and interest
Make a good impression with good questions and respectful attitude.
The content and duration of the school tour depends on the schools themselves. Overall, there is always a tour of the campus and boarding facilities included. Usually you will also have an opportunity to speak with a current student to ask them questions about their student life. Often there will also be a chance to speak with some staff or faculty members, such as teachers, EAL support staff, the headmaster, or the house parents.
Some schools are able to arrange private tours for the prospective student and family. One of the services we offer is to contact the schools of your choice to set up private tours for your family.
Other schools cannot offer private tours due to a high demand in interest. However, they will offer open day events, campus events, or virtuals tours as well, for you to explore the school more. Most events require registration in advance so we recommend you let us know as soon as possible.
We have an extensive list of questions about various topics that you can ask about. You will receive this guide before your arrival in the UK.
Here's an idea of topics you can ask about:
Extracurricular activities and facilities
How international students are integrated in the student body
Rules around phone use and bedtime.
We can also translate your questions from several languages (Japanese, Chinese, Korean) into English.
For further questions, do not hesitate to book an appointment with us to enquire more information.
