Craftsman with Character
Craftsman with Character (CWC) is a 16-week program designed as a pre-youth apprenticeship pathway. In this program, students spend 4 days a week job shadowing at local companies. The fifth day of the week is a classroom day where students reflect on their experiences at the different work sites and learn about themselves, their life goals, and how to achieve them. The activities in the program allow students and employers a chance to build a relationship that can lead to youth apprenticeship. More information about the program can be found at https://craftsmanwithcharacter.org/.
What does a CWC student day look like?
Students meet at 7:30 in the West End where attendance is taken and instructions for the day are given.
Students are then transported via shuttle to and from their job shadow sites four days per week and to their industry classroom at Mid-States Concrete one day per week.
Upon returning to Turner, students are expected to enter the high school immediately, sign in, and go to their 3rd/7th block class.
Students in this program will have core classes during blocks 3, 4, 7, and 8. Elective classes can be taken during 1st semester only.
