Youth Apprenticeship/Work Release
Students who want to earn high school credit while working can apply for youth apprenticeship or work release by completing the form below. Both programs allow students who meet the eligibility requirements to be released from school for work-based purposes. While the programs are similar, Youth Apprenticeship is a state-based program only offered in certain career areas and requires a larger commitment than work release. Students may complete the application in any grade to express their interest in being part of the program, but may only have release time during 11th or 12th grade.
Youth Apprenticeship (YA)
Available to students in grades 11 - 12
Requires a year-long commitment to complete a minimum of 450 hours of paid work
Offered by employers willing to provide a mentor to student workers
Currently employed -- Working a minimum of 15 hours per week
(There may be some exceptions that allow for fewer hours if needed at various times during the year)
Successful completion earns a certification from the State of WI
Must be enrolled in related coursework at Turner or through SCN/ECCP
Eligible for 1 period of release time per day
Earn up to 1.0 credits per semester
Work Release (WR)
Available to students in grades 11 - 12 who have taken/are taking Education for Employment
Currently employed -- Working a minimum of 10 hours per week
(There may be some exceptions that allow for fewer hours if needed at various times during the year)Eligible for 1 period of release time per day
Earn up to 0.5 credits per semester
To be eligible for work-based learning, students must:
Have an attendance rate of 90% or higher
Be on track for graduation
Have a completed resume
Have transportation to/from work
Be able to be employed

Meet with Mrs. Allbee to determine eligibility and the appropriate program
Submit required paperwork
Student/Parent Acknowledgements Form
Permission to Leave Building Form
Education/Training Agreement
Once accepted into the program, students must:
Join YA/WR Google Classroom
Submit weekly check-in Google forms
Meet quarterly with Mrs. Allbee in person to discuss progress, concerns, and next steps
Maintain an attendance rate of 90% or higher
Maintain grades of 1.0 or higher in all classes
*Students failing to meet these requirements will have their release time revoked and/or be removed from the program.
