Job Shadowing
Eligible students in 10th - 12th grade have the opportunity to visit a local job site in their desired career pathway. Job shadows are typically half-day experiences that give students a chance to see and speak with a person who has the career the student is working towards. Students must have their own transportation to travel to/from the job site.
Eligibility Requirements:
Must have an attendance rate of 90% or higher
Must be on track for graduation
Students going on a job shadow must have the required pre-shadow paperwork completed at least 3 days in advance. The required post-shadow paperwork must be submitted on return.
Students who would like help setting up a job shadow experience should complete a Job Shadow Request form.
Practice Interview Program
Turner High School has partnered with the YMCA and the Greater Beloit Economic Development Corporation (GBEDC) to bring the practice interview program to 10th-grade English classes. Volunteer facilitators will spend two days in 10th-grade English classrooms teaching students about interviewing and resume writing. Some of that time will be used for students to build their resumes using Xello. During the third session, each student will sit through a mock interview with volunteers from area businesses and organizations. Students will be given feedback from the volunteers on improving their interviewing skills.
