Edison Preparatory School Advanced Placement (AP) Contract 2014-2015
To enroll in an AP course for the 2014-2015 academic year, this document must be signed and returned to your counselor
Edison Preparatory School is committed to providing an environment in which all students have the equal access to Advanced Placement (AP) classes and the AP Diploma Program. Students enrolling in AP courses are demonstrating a willingness to meet the challenges of college level curriculum as directed by the Collegeboard. Course requirements and syllabi are carefully outlined at www.edison.tulsaschools.org
An Advanced Placement (AP) course is a challenging learning experience that is recognized as highly effective preparation for success in college. A record of AP courses on a student’s transcript is an indication of the student’s commitment to rigorous academics. AP course work requires the use of higher order thinking skills including abstract reasoning, analysis, syntheses, and evaluation; requires flexibility in thinking and the use of differing viewpoints. Students must demonstrate a strong work ethic and full engagement in learning. Typically, successful AP students are task-oriented, proficient readers, able to prioritize their time, and have parental support. The rigor of the curriculum requires more effort and homework on the part of the student.
Edison Preparatory High School requires that all students and their parent/guardian(s) sign this contract to acknowledge that the student is making an informed decision regarding enrollment in AP classes.
