Getting to Know Your Multilingual Learners

Multilingual learners are students who have developed or are developing proficiency in both English and one or more other languages, which may be their home language. Because of their highly varied relationships with English, they are also referred to as English learners (ELs). Create Pathways Towards Success for Long Term Multilingual Learners

Long-term English learners (LTELs) are multilingual learners who are struggling academically and have been enrolled in U.S. schools for six or more years. Learn how to better support the academic needs of your LTELs through vocabulary development and the scaffolding of grade-level content in the Introduction to Multilingual Learners Ellevation module. 

Understand SLIFE Students’ Backgrounds and Needs

Students with limited or interrupted formal education have experienced interrupted education due to a number of reasons beyond their control. Many of them are also multilingual learners. Gain insight to the challenges SLIFE students encounter and how you can support their social, emotional, and cultural adjustments in the  Introduction to Newcomers Ellevation module.

An Introduction to Newcomers

Newcomers are students that have been enrolled in U.S. schools for less than two full academic years. Gain specific tips to support students with a variety of language needs during their first years in the Introduction to Newcomers Ellevation module.
