Drawing & Painting

Drawing and Painting Academy Courses allow students to explore and experiment with a variety of media such as pencil, pastel, charcoal, marker, watercolor, acrylic, and oil.  Units include realism, abstraction, linear and atmospheric perspective, portraiture, canvas paintings, mixed media projects, and more. Students identify, apply, and analyze the Elements and Principles of Design in works of art and engage in group critiques, research projects, art contests, and community events.  As students progress through the program, more emphasis will be placed on refining skills and developing artwork both conceptually and stylistically.  Other course topics include building professional quality portfolios,  writing meaningful artist statements, and applying for scholarships to colleges and universities.
