Welcome to 4th grade! My name is Mrs. Taylor Butcher. This is my third year teaching at Mayflower Mill! Teaching at Mayflower Mill is very special to me because I went to Mayflower Mill as a student. I went on to be a Husky at Wea Ridge Middle and then a Maverick at McCutcheon High School. At McCutcheon, I participated in theatre and played soccer which led me to Hanover College as the goalkeeper. After graduation, my wife and I moved to New Jersey, and we were assistant teachers for a year before coming back home to Lafayette. In addition to teaching at the BEST elementary school, I also coach the goalkeepers on the McCutcheon girls’ soccer team. We have two dogs and two cats. And I LOVE coffee.
I am so grateful to work at such an amazing school. This is where my love for education began. I am so excited to pass on this passion to my students. My goal this year is to foster a love of learning and help students gain confidence as they grow. In an ever changing world, I want to help build curiosity and problem solving in each student to help them see and reach their full potential.
This year at Mayflower, the 4th grade team has decided to departmentalize which means that your student will not only have me as a teacher but another teacher as well. I will be your child's Math, Science, and Social Studies teacher, while Miss Toby will teach Reading and Writing. We are so excited to be teaching this way because we will be able to really focus on making 2 or 3 incredibly engaging and interactive lessons for each day.
I truly cannot wait to meet all of my students this year! It is sure to be a great year!
