Monthly Reading Projects

Throughout the school year, students will complete a Monthly Book Project designed to encourage a love of reading while exposing them to a variety of genres and topics. Each month, students will read a book that fits the assigned theme and complete a creative project that demonstrates their understanding of the book.

Each Monthly Book Project is worth 50 points and will be included as part of the student's Reading grade. Students are encouraged to use their 30 minutes of nightly reading along with any independent reading time provided during class to complete their book each month. Students may always read ahead and finish projects before the due date.

At the beginning of each month, students will receive a printed copy of that month's project directions and grading requirements. Project descriptions, due dates, and any additional resources will also be posted in our Reading Google Classroom so they are always available if a paper copy is misplaced.

These projects are designed to help students strengthen their reading comprehension, critical thinking, writing, creativity, and presentation skills while exploring a wide variety of books and genres. We look forward to seeing each student's creativity and celebrating a year filled with great books!
