Discipline Policy

Mrs. Stanis’s Fourth Grade Class

Discipline Policy

Do the right thing! Treat people right!

Every student will be encouraged to do his or her personal best every day.  This includes following the rules of our classroom and our school.

Fourth graders will participate in a point system throughout the year.  Students will earn classroom points by completing their “jobs” and by doing the right thing.  However, students will also lose points when they make choices that do not support the classroom community. The following is an example of consequences earned when students are redirected multiple times in a school day.

1st offense:  verbal warning

2nd offense:  lose a point

3rd offense:  lose a point and lose 5 minutes of recess

4th offense: lose another point and miss 10 minutes of recess

5th offense:  miss recess, and make a phone call home

6th offense:  visit Mr. Richardson

In addition to the individual behavior policy, the class will work together to earn various reward points.  The class will have the opportunity to earn points in our classroom as well as outside our classroom. I will look for positive reports from specials teachers, recess and lunchroom monitors, as well as compliments received in the hallway for positive behavior.  Once we have filled the board with reward points, we will celebrate. I believe this encourages the students to do their personal best at all times and demonstrates that we all must work together to achieve a goal. It also helps them to understand how their behavior – positive or negative – affects their classmates.
