Items at School

Mrs. Stanis’s Fourth Grade Class

Birthdays

Every child will have the opportunity to celebrate a birthday during the school year. If your child’s birthday is during the summer months, you may celebrate the half birthday if you wish. For example, if the actual birthday is July 23, you are welcome to celebrate on or around January 23. Your child will receive a list of birthday options so they can choose how they would like to celebrate their birthday at school. If you choose to send birthday treats to share with the class, please notify me at least one day in advance. This year, all treats are required to be commercially prepared and individually wrapped. Please keep it simple and make sure to send enough for the entire class. If you have questions or concerns about what to bring, feel free to contact me. Also, please let me know if you prefer that we do not celebrate your child’s birthday at school.

Items at school

If a student chooses to bring an item to school, it is their responsibility to take care of that item. Do not allow your child to bring valuables to school. I do not mind if students bring small toys or things they wish to use at recess, but those items need to be kept in the student’s backpack during the day. If an item becomes a distraction during class time, I will keep the item in my desk and return it to the student at the end of the day. The next time I have to take the item away, I will make arrangements with a parent to have the parent pick up the item at school. If items from home become too much of a distraction for this class, I may have to ask that students simply not bring items to school.
