The 2nd Grade Team uses several different materials for Math Review and Instruction. Each week the students complete a Daily Math packet which has a 5 question section each day on the different aspects of Math that we study. On Monday - Thursday, they also work on Mountain Math, which reviews the basic concepts of Math that they need to know to master math concepts. On Friday the students complete a "Friday Math" worksheet, which like all of the other sheets listed, helps us monitor their understanding of important math concepts. It also helps us determine which students we need to pull for individual instruction on areas of math they are struggling with.
The students receive daily instruction from the teacher based on the 2nd Grade Curriculum. When students complete their Math Assignment, they are to go to the iReady Math site on their Chromebooks to complete lessons based on their personal needs that were identified while taking the iReady Diagnostic Test.
Check your child's RED FOLDER each day for Math Homework. Math Homework will be sent home at various times over the school year for practice, to prepare for a test, or if a student is having difficulties on a specific math concept. If a student is having difficulty with a concept I may send home a paper for them to correct and return the next day with your assistance. Math Homework will not be sent home on a regular basis in the same way that our Reading Homework is. Again, it is IMPORTANT that you check your child's RED FOLDER each day for any homework that needs to be completed that evening or for a later date written or stamped on the paper.
