Grading Policy

Emphasis in this classroom will be placed on learning, not grades. Grades will not be written on student assignments. The focus instead will be on feedback. Students will have opportunities to revise work and reflect on their learning regularly. Metacognition (thinking about your thinking) will be a focus of the school year. Students will participate in metacognitive activities including keeping a Personal Learning Journal, evaluating their own work using checklists and rubrics, and tracking progress using pre- and post-tests.

All class assignments (including quizzes, tests, and projects) will be awarded 2 points in PowerSchool for completion. Reflection activities will be awarded 10 points in PowerSchool. Proof of learning is required to receive full credit on reflection activities.

Grades on quarterly report cards will be based on the percentage of points earned:

  • A's: 100-90

  • B's: 89-80

  • C's: 79-70

  • D's: 69-60

  • F's: 59 and below
