Special events in music:
KSO field trip: The fifth grades (and fourth grade at Norton) is seeing a concert that the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra is putting on! The theme is Everybody loves rhythm and is showing music and dance from different cultures and times (Andrews is seeing this March 4th and Norton is seeing this March 3rd)!

What are we currently working on: All grades are working on their concert music!
Y5-1:
We are learning and practicing songs that help us use our singing voice, create/stay with a steady beat, move to music, and how to play specific musical instruments. We are practice this by learning our concert songs.
2: Through practicing concert music we are practicing multiple music skills including singing a round.
3: We are practicing musical skills while focusing on our concert music. These skills include singing with dynamics and singing in different parts in a song.
4th and 5th: We are focusing on learning music for our concert. These include songs in multiple parts and rounds. We hope to include more musical insturments in these songs as well!
Fun/New things in music: The 4th grade graduates to sitting on stools instead of sitting on spots on the floor!
Class Highlight of the month:
Y5-5: We work on some kind of simple song in class. These are shorter songs that students remember from memory. This means that we practice our singing and memory skills.
Shout out to our wildcats of the week and month! If your student has received this honor they will have a certificate to bring home! Congratulations to those wildcats! Thank you for being fantastic musicians and students!
