How to Implement

• Girls will work in groups of three or four. Talk briefly about the history of women in computer science and the fact that the numbers have dwindled even though women have had a huge impact on the field’s development.
• Introduce the design challenge: Make an app that allows the user to click through a slideshow of women in computing (including yourself!)
• Have the girls go to the For the Girls page to see the resources that they can use for this project.
• They will choose two or three women from the Notable Women in Tech project.
• For the final project they will have 3-4 slides, depending on how big their team is.
  • Two or three images will be from the Notable Women in Tech project.
  • One slide will be a selfie of their team with their team name.
• They can work through the tutorial (available here or on the For the Girls page), or you can print it out.
• Wrap-up discussion
  • Was it hard to keep track of all the pieces? How can you make sure your file names are organized so that you can keep your team organized?
  • If there is time, the girls can watch videos of mentors, either as a group or in individual teams.
