**** Addendum to the syllabus for all classes: Clarification on cheating and consequences of cheating as per the Ellender Memorial High Student Handbook found on the Ellender Memorial High Website:

Definition of Cheating from the Handbook: CHEATING

For cheating on a daily quiz, weekly assignment, major test, midterm or final test, the student will receive an “F” in conduct for the particular grading period and an “F” on the test or assignment. (This is Terrebonne Parish School Board Policy.)

A student who fails to follow teacher-prescribed testing procedures (e.g. silence, facing forward, having test notes or study sheets away from testing area, etc.) may be considered cheating and may be given a mark of “F” and may not be permitted a further evaluation on the same material.

Plagiarism is the use of another person’s original idea or writing as one’s own without giving credit to the true author. Plagiarism will be considered cheating and will be dealt with in the same manner.

Cheating as it pertains to cell phone usage during an assessment: From the Handbook section on Electronic/Telecommunication devices: ELECTRONIC/TELECOMMUNICATION DEVICES

The following guidelines apply to all electronic communication devices including but not limited to cell phones, tablets, mp3 players, communication features of smart watches, etc.

6. Use of devices is prohibited during tests/exams.

Electronic devices found to be powered on, visible, or in use during a test or exam, will result in an office referral, and the student will be automatically granted an F for cheating.
