Classroom Management Plan

CLASS SOCIAL CONTRACTS

Each individual class has created a Social Contract that has been signed by all students. These contracts include the acceptable and agreed-upon behavior that should be observed by all participants of the class (including the teacher). If a student feels as though he/she is being treated in a manner that is not in accordance with the classroom social contract, that student should bring it to the attention of the teacher. Failure to follow the social contract will result in the following consequences:

  • 1st infraction: Warning

  • 2nd infraction: Conference with student

  • 3rd infraction: Parental Contact

  • 4th infraction: Referral to Guidance

  • 5th infraction: Minor Office Referral

  • 6th-9th infraction: Minor Office Referral

  • 10th infraction: Major Office Referral

The progression of the infractions does not start over at the beginning of a new grading period (9 weeks). Infractions will accumulate on a yearly basis. Social contracts are available on each individual class page.

REWARDS AND BONUS POINTS

There are many ways for students to be rewarded in each class. School-wide incentives such as Patriot Points, PBIS rewards, and Honor Roll treats are available to all students. However, I will also award bonus points in addition.

Bonus points are available in various forms and for varying reasons:

  • "Caught you being good" points are pink +3 point passes that are awarded spontaneously. Points are given for actions such as, but not limited to, students that are "caught" keeping the classroom neat, helping other students, helping the teacher, doing an assignment that was ignored by his/her peers, volunteering answers, solving problems at the board.

  • Students can earn +1, +3, or +5 bonus points for participation and correct answers on our weekly Word Power vocabulary building activity.

  • "Progressive PRIDE Prize" points are awarded for those students who go above and beyond. These are given to those students who fully participate in class each day and complete the Daily Summary Page every day. In addition, these points are given to those students who fully participate in the VOLUNTARY cell phone surrender every day. Cell phones are LOCKED in a cabinet for the class period and students will get them back before the bell sounds to end the class period.

          • 1 Progressive PRIDE Prize = +5 bonus points

          • 2 Progressive PRIDE Prizes = restroom pass

          • 3 Progressive PRIDE Prizes = Excuse a grade

MAJOR INFRACTIONS

Major infractions will be handled according to the Ellender Memorial High School Student Handbook and Terrebonne Parish Student Policy Handbook. These documents are available on the school and parish websites.
