a minimum of three consecutive years of successful experience in the area in which he/she will be mentoring;
Current knowledge of teaching styles and philosophies;
School specialist mentoring can be cross-district if necessary;
Demonstrate exemplary teaching ability as measured by the district observations, pre and post conferences;
Exhibits qualities of an effective mentor e.g. understanding of content standards, ability to transmit effective and current teaching strategies, understanding of diverse learning styles (differentiated instruction), ability to listen;
May provide assistance and guidance to no more than two teachers;
Ability to serve as a positive role model for the educator by providing opportunities for continual feedback and reflection;
Willingness to commit the extra time and effort needed;
