What is Securly?
Securly is a cloud-based web filtering and student safety platform used by schools to protect students online. It provides content filtering, cyberbullying detection, self-harm alerts, and tools for digital classroom management.
This guide walks teachers through setting up their digital classroom using Securly Classroom. It includes how to create a class, schedule sessions, manage student access, block specific websites, and create collections of educational resources.

** You can add it to your home screen on your Ipads
Sign in using your school Google or Microsoft account.
Click on "Classes" in the left-hand menu.
Select "Create Class" or the “+” icon.
Fill in the class details:
Name: Choose a clear title (e.g., “5th Grade Reading”).
Description: Optional, but helpful for multi-class teachers.
Students: Add students by:
*Importing from Google Classroom (recommended), or
*Manually entering student emails.
Click "Create" to save the class.
After creating the class, click on it from your dashboard.
Click the 3 dots in the upper right corner of the class
Go to class settings
Choose to close all open tabs (be careful this will close any unsaved documents)
Allow students to raise hand (this is to get the teachers attention on Securly)
Allow them to initiate a chat with the teacher (this is so students can ask questions or comment to the teacher)
Play chat alert sounds for students (this will play a sound on their device)
Limit tab options (can choose 1-5 tabs that students are allowed to have open at one time)
-It will not close the students tab, but it will not allow them to open a new tab until they are within the limit set by the teacher.
Choosing your blocking plan (you must have a set block list made with specific URL's. ** If you block google.com to prevent students from searching the web, it will block ALL things Google ie: classrooms, docs...)
Site lock to collections ( is used to only allow students on sites you choose during your scheduled time)
Class Schedule (Scheduled classes automatically start session monitoring at the set time, so you don’t have to manually launch them.
*There is a same schedule where you can make them all the same for everyday marked or a different schedule where you can adjust the times for each specific day marked.
Add co-teachers, paraprofessionals, or other support staff (this will allow others to assist in monitoring the classroom)
*Click the plus sign and find their name and add them
Click “Save”
