How Covid-19 Compares to Other Illnesses

COVID -19 vs ALLERGIES

Allergies are common and present with many symptoms. See the attachment for symptoms that are shared between COVID-19 and Allergies. All students who are presenting with ONE or MORE shared symptoms will be sent home. This includes congestion and runny nose. Please buy over-the-counter medications to keep allergies under control OR see your doctor for a prescription medication.

COVID-19 vs FLU vs COMMON COLD vs STREP THROAT

The Flu, the common cold, and strep present with many symptoms. See the attachment for symptoms that are shared between COVID-19, the Flu, strep, and the common cold. All students with ONE or MORE of these shared symptoms will be sent home. This includes fatigue and being tired !! Please make sure your child is getting plenty of sleep the night before so that he/she is ready to learn the next day. All students who are fatigued and tired will be sent home.

COVID-19 vs ASTHMA

Asthma is common and presents with many symptoms. See the attachment for symptoms that are shared between COVID-19 and Asthma. All students who are presenting with ONE or MORE shared symptoms will be sent home. Unfortunately, the school can not distinguish between COVID-19 and Asthma. Extra precautions need to be taken this year during the pandemic. Therefore, certain symptoms of asthma will be considered a HIGH-RISK symptom and treated as such. If your child's asthma is not under control, we recommend you see your primary healthcare provider. Also, please provide the school with an inhaler to treat emergency situations should they arise.
