Notification is Required for the Following:

• Student Device was accessed/ monitored during instructional class time and a violation of the Student Code of Conduct or Acceptable Use Policy was alleged or witnessed by the staff.

• Student Device was accessed/ monitored during instructional class time and a violation of the Student Code of Conduct or Acceptable Use Policy was alleged or witnessed by peers.

• Web history was accessed due to a violation of the Student Code of Conduct or Acceptable Use Policy.

• A student device was accessed due to a filter alert, resulting in a violation of the Student Code of Conduct or Acceptable Use Policy.

• Student Device  and/ or Web history was accessed due to a violation of the Student Code of Conduct or Acceptable Use Policy as part of a an administrative investigation, regardless of guilt or findings.

• Any other non-instructional or tech support function that resulted in accessing a Student Device.

Notification is NOT Required for the Following:

• Computer Access was monitored during instructional class time and typical classroom management or redirection was conducted.

  • "Please close that browser, we should all be reviewing page 32 at this time"

  • "We are not listening to music, I see that open- close it"

• Computer Access was monitored for the purpose of instructional assistance or tech-support.

  • "Mr. Smith, can you look to see if this paragraph looks okay"?

  • "Mr. Smith, can you help me log in to this site"?

• A student device or account was accessed for a non commercial educational Purpose for instruction, technical support, or exam-proctoring.

  • State or Local Testing

• A student device or account was accessed to help locate a device that was reported missing or stolen.

• A student device or account was accessed to comply with federal or state law.

• A student device or account was accessed to comply with a judicial warrant.

• A student device or account was accessed to participate in federal or state funding programs.
