Graduate school bulletin

Aim

The “Graduate School Bulletin” is a publication that aims to present academic research results that have been achieved through the diligent efforts of the instructor and students. It is published annually by the Graduate Schools of Letters, Sociology, Law, Business Administration, Economics, Global and Regional Studies, International Tourism Management, Regional Development Studies, Social Welfare, Human Life Design, and Welfare Society Design.

Application guidelines for the Graduate School Bulletin

Since AY 2007, a referee system has been adopted to improve the quality of academic papers and to continue to provide advising to graduate school students and those who have completed their course of study at graduate school. Papers submitted by students are reviewed by instructors in charge of their research advising and one or more anonymous examiners. They are also proofread several times through the exchange of views with the authors of the paper as required. The Submission Guidelines for the Graduate School Bulletin will be distributed at the office in charge of graduate schools at Hakusan Campus, Akabanedai Campus (WELLB HUB-2), and the University’s website in late May. Applications for Graduate School Bulletin and submission of theses will be made online.

  1. Application requirements

1)Full-time instructors in charge of graduate school education: No review required

2)Graduate school students who have received recommendations from instructors in charge of their research advising and those who have completed their course of study at graduate school (including those who have completed their course of study at the doctoral program without a doctoral degree): Review required (Regarding those who have completed the Doctoral program, no review is required.)

3)Full-time instructors who have left the university after taking charge of graduate school education and have gained approval from the Annual Publication Editorial Committee: No review required

4)Visiting instructors who belong to graduate schools and outside researchers who are invited by related graduate schools: No review required

  1. Number of manuscript (strictly adhered to)

Those who fall under category 1) above: 32,000 or less characters (including characters in figures, etc.)

Those who fall under categories 2), 3) and 4) above: 16,000 or less characters (including characters in figures, etc.) * As for graduate school students enrolled in the doctoral program, the length of their paper should be 24,000 or less characters. (including characters in figures, etc.)

Submission deadline

  • Submission deadline for the Notification of Tentative Paper Title and the abstract of a paper : by 6/16 (Thu), 2022

Students who have not submitted these documents will not be allowed to submit their paper.

  • Submission period for the Paper Submission Notification Form and a paper : 9/16 (Fri) – 20 (Tue), 2022

  • Submission period for the revised paper : 11/26 (Sat) – 30 (Wed), 2022

Students are required to submit the final version of their paper, which has been revised as instructed.

*Those without peer review are not required to submit.

Documents to be submitted

By 6/16 (Thu), 2022

  1. Notification of Tentative Paper Title (designated format): Students who fall under the eligibility 2) are required to receive recommendations from their academic supervisors in charge of their research advising. As for students who have completed their course of study at graduate school (including those who have complete their course of study at graduate school without a doctoral degree), when their academic supervisors from whom they received advising while in graduate school are not available due to retirement or other reasons, they are required to receive recommendations from the course chair of their course or dean of their graduate school.

  2. Abstract of a paper (about a single sheet of A4 paper)

* Students who do not need to have their paper reviewed are not required to submit an abstract of their paper.

9/16 (Fri) – 20 (Tue), 2022

  2. Confirmation Note for the Toyo University Research Code of Ethics

  3. Paper: In principle, theses should be written using a PC (MS Word).

  4. Abstract written in a language other than that in which the paper is written: In principle, the abstract should be written in English.

  5. Application for Use of Color Printing (only for those who wish to have their paper printed in color)

* For those who do not need to have their paper reviewed, this is the final deadline, so please make sure to check the contents before submission.

11/26 (Sat) – 30 (Wed), 2022  

*Those who do not need to have their paper reviewed are not required to submit the documents described below.

  1. Completed Paper Submission Notification Form (designated format)

  2. Completed Paper: The data of the final version of a paper that has been proofread under the direction of examiners

  3. Abstract written in a language other than the one used to write the paper: The data of the abstract written in a language other than the one used to write the paper, which has been proofread under the direction of examiners

  4. Application for Use of Color Printing (only for those who wish to have their paper printed in color)

Review of paper

Students will be informed of the assessment results of their paper through academic supervisors in charge of their research advising during the review period.

Notification in writing to the author of the thesis will be provided around the end of October on whether or not the paper will be published in the Graduate School Bulletin.

Proofreading

The first proofreading of the paper is scheduled for late December and the second is scheduled for late January of the following year.

Any modifications of contents are not permitted at the time of the proofreading stated above since the paper has been already reviewed. Only correction of spelling mistakes or other minor errors are permitted.

Publication date

The Graduate School Bulletin is scheduled to be published at the end of March, 2023. The authors will receive 3 copies of the Graduate School Bulletin, 50 copies of the reprints, and the PDF files. Please receive them between 4/4 (Mon) and 28 (Fri), 2023 at the office in charge of graduate schools on their campus, bringing a bag. If you wish to have the published bulletins etc. shipped and to be paid for by cash on delivery (COD), please inform us of the shipping address and name.
