グローバル・イノベーション学科の1年生が「Youth Co:Lab（ユース・コーラボ）」に参加しました
国際学部グローバルイノベーション学科1年の本嶋向日葵さんが、2023年7月12〜14日にタイ・バンコクの国連カンファレンスセンターで開催された、国連開発計画(UNDP)とシティ・ファウンデーションが共催する若者によるソーシャルイノベーションと社会起業を支援するプログラム「Youth Co:Lab（ユース・コーラボ）」のアジア・太平洋地域サミット2023に招待され、自身の途上国貧困支援プロジェクト事業「冷蔵庫プロジェクト」についてプレゼンテーションを行いました。

本嶋さんが2022年からフィリピンのマニラで開始した「冷蔵庫プロジェクト」は、途上国の貧困女性に冷蔵庫と仕入資金を貸与して、子育てをしながら自宅で開業可能な食品・日用品販売のミニストア経営してもらい、所得向上によって貧困からの脱却を目指しています。
本嶋さんは、2022年11月に開かれたYouth Co:Labソーシャル・イノベーション・チャレンジ日本大会において、「冷蔵庫プロジェクト」で LeaveNoOneBehind 賞を受賞しました。
今回のサミットを終えて、本嶋さんは「20を超える国や地域の若き社会起業家、国連職員政府関係者や支援企業の皆様が一堂に集うサミットにおいて、自身のプロジェクトを発表できたことを大変誇りに思います。」と語りました。
Youth Co:Lab は、国連開発計画とシティ・ファウンデーションの共催で、起業家エコシステムの強化を目的に、2017年にアジア太平洋地域で発足しました。域内28の国と地域で、若年層がリーダーシップを発揮し、社会革新を起こし、起業家精神を持つことによるSDGs（持続可能な開発目標）実行の加速を目指す、若年層向けのエンパワメントプログラムです。

Ms. Himawari Motojima, a first-year student in the Department of Global Innovation, School of International Studies, was invited to the Asia-Pacific Regional Summit 2023 of Youth Co:Lab, a program to support social innovation and social entrepreneurship by young people jointly organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Citi Foundation. It was held on July 12-14, 2023 at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok, Thailand. She was invited to the Asia-Pacific Regional Summit 2023 of Youth Co:Lab, a program co-hosted by UNDP and Citi Foundation to support social innovation and social entrepreneurship by young people, and gave a presentation on her project "Refrigerator Project," which supports poverty relief in developing countries.
The "Refrigerator Project," which Ms. Motojima started in Manila, Philippines in 2022, lends refrigerators and purchasing funds to poor women in developing countries to run mini-stores selling food and daily necessities that they can open at home while raising their children, aiming to help them escape poverty by increasing their income
Ms. Motojima received the Leave No One Behind Award for her "Refrigerator Project" at the Youth Co:Lab Social Innovation Challenge Japan held in November 2022.
After the Summit, Ms. Motojima said, "I am very proud to present my project at the Summit, where young social entrepreneurs from over 20 countries and regions, UN officials, government officials, and supporting companies gathered together." said Ms.Motojima .
Youth Co:Lab was launched in the Asia-Pacific region in 2017, co-sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme and Citi Foundation, with the aim of strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem. It is a youth empowerment program that aims to accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through youth leadership, social innovation, and entrepreneurship in 28 countries and regions in the region.
