As teachers we often discuss with students what we mean by the 'learning pit'.
The 'learning pit' symbolises a challenge or obstacle that we may face with our learning. While we are in the pit we may feel uneasy and uncertain but through perseverance and problem solving we can learn new things and come out of the pit.
One way to help overcome challenges is to change the way we think. We often refer to this as Growth Mindset or Fixed Mindset.
It is important that students understand that learning is not easy. Learning involves overcoming challenges, making mistakes and not being afraid to ask for help.
These Youtube clips follow 'Mojo' as he learns more about how the brain works and the importance of having a growth mindset.
Although the images may seem 'babyish', the messages are important and highlight some of very important aspects of a what it takes to be a successful learner.

One of the biggest concerns for New Zealand is our economy. One of the industries that has lost the most money is tourism. One of our choice board tasks was to create a google tour using 'Google Tour Builders'.
This site creates virtual tours from anywhere around the world. Here is Jack's tour of Natural Rotorua.
If you would like to create a tour we recommend watching Youtube Google Builders Intro which can be found on the Online Learning page of this website.
It's lots of fun!!
Sophie completed many of the ANZAC activities from the Choice Board as part of her online learning journey. Here are some of photos of her learning adventures.
Using the website https://the1940sexperiment.com/100-wartime-recipes/ Sophie made yummy ANZAC biscuits for her whanau.
Sophie used her skills and knowledge to design and test a parachute that would allow a RAF to land safely

Hello friends and family members,
COVID 19 has being chaos but if we help each other and be kind we will get through this together. Like when were at the supermarket- dont take as many things as you can, get what you need not what you might need. Yes COVID 19 is killing a huge amount of our population but I personally think that COVID 19 isn't all bad because it has taught us to always wash your hands and clean our self probably.
