Warren Farmers Market

A large amount of survey participants are ages 25-34 but the majority at this point in time are ages 35 and older.

The majority of shoppers at the market that filled out the survey happen to also be female.

Most folks that shop at the farmers market and completed this survey identify themselves as the primary shopper.

The majority of survey participants are spending between $11 - $30 at the market when they visit.

Austintown Farmers Market

A large amount of survey participants are ages 25-34 but the majority at this point in time are ages 35 and older.

The majority of shoppers at the market that filled out the survey happen to also be female.


Most folks that shop at the farmers market and completed this survey identify themselves as the primary shopper.


A majority of shoppers at the Austintown Farmers Market that answered this survey spend around $11-20 at each market they attend.

Howland Farmers Market

A smaller portion of folks age 35-44 are shopping at the Howland Farmers Markets as compared to other markets but there is a much larger percentage of those 45-54 shopping at the market that completed the survey.

Most folks that shop at the farmers market and completed this survey identify themselves as the primary shopper. Howland added an additional option that will be added to the standard format in 2021 which will provide more insight into the shopping habits of our customers.


The majority of shoppers at the market that filled out the survey happen to also be female.


A majority of survey participants noted they spent between $11-25 at the Howland Farmers Market.

Farmers Market Updates:

Shannon – Austintown Farmers Market – done with weekly markets, finished in August, mask enforcement was hard this season, attendance was down compared to years past, folks were happy to have the opportunity to shop. Moved to monthly markets, fewer vendors, vendors happy with participation. Sanitation stations at the park, socially distanced trunk or treat. Different area of the park to make sure all restrictions are followed because we won’t be able to rope off the areas as we can during the summer. Trying a winter market and only so many people with be allowed in. Social distancing and masks followed. More masks, caution tape, signage.

Ron - ACTION - Successful season but things got kind of odd, kicked off market season in Feb with healthy eating series, COVID came about and then it because difficult to connect with folks. Connected to the Kitchen Incubator and created meals for adults to pass out to community members in need. Created the Delivery Angel program to train volunteers to deliver products. Successful pop up markets, great partnership with GROW Urban Form, 3200 market participants. Will have reached about 500 people through transportation program. ACTION is working to clothe the naked and feed the poor and through the work this year they have doubled their size. Objective is to get 2 folks in each community to work on barriers within the community.

Robin – OSU Extension - booked for 6-10 classes week, sent out over 10,000 texts and 10,000 emails to keep in contact with program participants, still doing telework into 2021. Excited they got to offer the program digitally and all the services are being provided to folks. Strong pre and post survey data elements. Really working to meet folks exactly where they are. Focus on making things user friendly. Research based and science driven.

Amy – Soil and Water Conservation – finished cover crop seeding program, cereal rye, 5/6 participating farm will be seeded into cord and soybeans. Cover crops aren’t just good for trad farmers and could also be super helpful for urban and community gardeners as well. Fish sale just wrapped up this past Tuesday and 16 folks ordered. Not as many educational efforts within schools and on field trips so programming has been a challenge. Also no guest speakers at this time. We might see more virtual programming for conservation practices in winter and spring. General public is still not able to come in the office but business is still happening in a safe way.

After October 18th going to bring things together into one event possibly. Might change the day the day of the market to another day in the week next year to not compete with other markets or other concerts.
